There will be a 7:30pm rosary service held at the church on Thursday evening.  Visitation will also be held at the church, on Friday, from 10am until time of service.

Full Obituary

     JANICE K. “JAN” MICKE, age 69, of Thorp, died peacefully on Sunday, January 31,  2016, at St. Joseph's Hospital, in Marshfield, with her family by her side.  Funeral services will be held at 11am on Friday, February 5, 2016 at St Bernard-St. Hedwig's Catholic Church in Thorp, with Fr. Janusz Kowalski officiating.  Burial will be held in St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery at a later date.  Visitation will be held at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig's Catholic Church, in Thorp, on Thursday, February 4, 2016 from 4pm to 8pm, with a 7:30pm rosary service, and again on Friday, from 10am until time of service.
     Jan was born on July 27, 1946 in Chippewa Falls, WI, the daughter of Victor and Genevieve (Moriarty) Smola.  She grew up on Lake Wissota and graduated from Chippewa Falls High School in 1964.  Following her high school graduation, Jan attended the Minnesota School of Business.  Over the years Jan was employed by ITT Finance, Rural Insurance, and the Country Today for over 20 years.
     Jan was united in marriage on September 16, 1967 to Gerald “Jerry” Micke at St. Charles Catholic Church, in Chippewa Falls, WI.  The following year they purchased a farm in the township of Worden, where they have resided for the last 46 years raising their family.  The farm is well known for sheep, border collies, and pumpkins.  She enjoyed her house plants and outside flowerbeds, ceramics, and watching her kids and grandkids show at many local fairs, especially the Clark County Fair.  She served as North Fork 4-H leader for a number of years, was a member and officer of the Thorp FFA Alumni, served on the Thorp Pumpkin Fest and June Dairy Days Committees.
     She is survived by her husband, Jerry;  her children: Sheri (Joe) Jacque of Thorp, Jim Micke (Amy Strom) of Thorp, Teri (Al) Raatz of Colby;  eight grandchildren: Sam, Ben, Max and Raiden Jacque, Emily and Maddie Micke, Ella and Jacob Raatz;  one sister: Kathy Hebert of Chippewa Falls;  brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Bill and Rose Micke of Thorp, Ray and Joanne Stroinski of Thorp, and Carol McDermott of Henderson, NV; as well as many nieces and nephews.
     She was preceded in death by her parents; her mother and father-in-law: Bill and Florence Micke;  brothers-in-law: Armon Micke and Bob Hebert; and sister in-law: Barbara Micke-Blair.
     Memorials funds may be designated to the Clark County 4-H and/or the Thorp FFA in Jan’s name.
