Full Obituary

     RANDALL J. PARKINSON, age 66, of Altoona, WI, passed away at Marshfield Medical Center in Eau Claire, WI on Friday, November 10, 2023.  Funeral services will be held at 1pm on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at Thorp Funeral Home, in Thorp, WI, followed by a Celebration of Life at The Brickhouse Pub in Eau Claire, WI starting at 4pm.
     Randall Jay Parkinson was born on January 31, 1957 in Fond du Lac, WI, the son of Richard F. and Arlene D. (Lockwood) Parkinson.  When he was a young boy, his parent's moved the family to Wisconsin Rapids, WI where he was raised and received his education.  After his schooling, he enlisted into the U.S. Navy on April 12, 1974 and served until his honorable discharge on January 29, 1975.  Randall returned to Wisconsin and was an over-the-road truck driver for 10 years.  He then was an independent contractor delivering several different newspaper publications throughout Wisconsin.  Randall was united in marriage on August 18, 2006 to Penny L. Sommerville in Eau Claire.  He resided in Altoona until his death.
     He had many interests, but especially loved spending time with his grandchildren, shooting pool, camping, cooking out, and being by the lake.
     Randall is survived by his wife, Penny, of Altoona; four children: Tyrone Harris of Prescott, AZ, Seth Johnson of Wisconsin Rapids, Jasmyn Parkinson of Floral City, FL, Yelana (James) Carter of Caldwell, ID; three step-children: Nathaniel Nelson of Appleton, WI, Sky Nelson of Sun Prairie, WI, Carey (Jason) Chodera of Eau Claire; 16 grandchildren: Chelsey, Vienna, Travis, Zachary, Christopher, Emily, Jason, Jessica, Katie, Amber, Grace, Bennett, Mackaylah, Olivia, Analynn, Hazen; one great-grandson, Ryker; two sisters: Patricia Jude of Wisconsin Rapids, Lorri Brekke of Green Bay, WI; two brothers: Richard (Sandra) Parkinson of Bartlett, TN, Rodney Parkinson of Wisconsin Rapids; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
     He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Diane Parkinson.
